Thin Section four point contact Ball Bearings

The Type - X 4 - point contact thin section bearings (Inch and Metric series) are ideal for moment & reversing axial loading. They can be used in light loads but not for radial/combined loads. Designed to save weight, space, reduce friction, increase flexibility, and ensure high accuracy.

Cross sections: 3/16 × 3/16 in to 1 × 1 in

ID diameter(Metric series): 20 ≤ d ≤ 360 mm           

Cross sections: 8 × 8 to 20 × 20 mm

Material: bearing rings and rolling elements steel GCr15 or stainless steel 9Cr18

Precision levels: P0, P6, P5 ,P4

Description

Thin section four point contact ball bearings are mainly used to withstand radial loads, but when the radial clearance of the bearing is increased, they have a certain degree of angular contact bearing performance and can withstand combined radial and axial loads. When the speed is high and thrust bearings are not suitable, they can also be used to withstand pure axial loads. Compared with other types of bearings of the same size, this type of bearing has a small coefficient of friction and a high limit speed. But it is not resistant to impact and is not suitable for bearing heavy loads. Thin Section bearings can meet highly demanding and specific requirements. They are often used in applications such as aerospace, medical systems, robotics, astronomy instrumentation and machine tools. Thin section bearings operate on the same fundamental principles as standard rolling element bearings, but they are designed with a much thinner cross-section, allowing for reduced weight, compactness, and high precision. Here are the key working principles: Rolling Element Support: Thin section bearings use rolling elements (balls or rollers) positioned between inner and outer rings to reduce friction and support radial, axial, and moment loads. Thin Cross-Section: Unlike conventional bearings, thin section bearings maintain a constant cross-section regardless of their bore size. This allows for more compact designs in applications with space constraints. Load Capacity: These bearings are designed to handle different types of loads: Radial loads: Force applied perpendicular to the bearing's axis. Axial loads: Force applied parallel to the bearing's axis. Moment loads: Force applied as a bending or tilting moment. Low Friction and High Precision: Thin section bearings have precisely manufactured rolling elements and raceways, reducing friction and ensuring smooth operation, which is crucial for high-speed or precision applications. Lubrication: Proper lubrication (grease or oil) is essential for reducing wear and prolonging bearing life. Material Selection: These bearings are commonly made from stainless steel or high-carbon chrome steel to provide corrosion resistance and strength. Open, Shielded, or Sealed Designs: Thin section bearings come in various configurations: Open: For applications where external lubrication is available. Shielded: Protects against contaminants but allows some airflow. Sealed: Provides full protection against contaminants and retains lubrication.
